On Friday, April 12th, in collaboration with the Parents’ and Guardians’ Association of the General Lyceum of Kalambaka, the presentation of the new book by the renowned author Anna Galanou titled “Lives Against” took place.
The book’s theme is domestic violence, which is one of the most prevalent forms of degenerate violence worldwide. Six women confront abuse, fear, shame, control, and become entangled in a story with a common connecting link, uniting all the pieces of a long chain. The message the author wants to convey through the book, addressed to all women, is “speak up!”, “speak up before it’s too late, you are not alone!”.
Speaking about the book were Mrs. Sotiria Simou, Vice President of the Parents’ and Guardians’ Association of the General Lyceum of Kalambaka, and Mr. Stefanos Garavelas, a member of the Greek Cognitive Analytic Psychotherapy, a graduate of the Medical School. They analyzed stories of abuse, the characteristics of victims’ behavior, as well as perpetrators, what both sides experience, and how difficult it is to escape from an abusive relationship of interdependence.
We thank the Parents’ and Guardians’ Association of the General Lyceum of Kalambaka for their collaboration, Dioptra Publications, and the Tsiopelakos Bookstore in Trikala. We also thank Mrs. Anna Galanou for her generous donation and for once again honoring us with her presence.
