On Sunday 2/7/2023 at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Savvas Kalenderidis will visit the Library to give a speech about The Treaty of Lausanne-100 years later: Turkey’s enforcement and revisionism.
Savvas Kalenderidis was born in Serres, Northern Greece in 1960. In 1977 he went to the Hellenic Army Academy, from which he graduated in 1981, as a second lieutenant. He served in various units and attended all the armored and commando schools. He also served for a number of years in critical positions abroad. In March 2000, while he was studying at the Supreme Joint War College, he resigned from the Greek Army with the rank of lieutenant colonel. His resignation was due to his disagreement with the Greek government’s handling of the Ocalan Affair in January 1999 in Nairobi, Kenya. Savvas Kalenderidis, who accompanied the Kurdish leader during his adventurous journey to Russia, Belarus and Kenya, wrote the book Paradosi Ocalan: i ora tis alithias (Ocalan’s Surrender : The Hour of Truth) giving his historical testimony. The book reached the top of sales, exceeding 15 thousand copies. Since the fall of 2000 he founded and manages the publishing house Infognomon and since 2008 the blog Infognomon Politics.
Since 2011, he has been a regular columnist in the newspaper Dimokratia and Kyriakatiki Dimokratia, while his analyzes and articles, mainly on Turkey and other regional issues, have been published in various newspapers, magazines and websites.
